Let's learn historical blackwork embroidery (and make a cute modern bag)

I am notorious for learning historical techniques on the fly, so I'm breaking the cycle and properly learning and practicing Renaissance blackwork embroidery BEFORE incorporating it into a fiddly historical project. Plus I get a cute bag out of the deal. Win/win.

Thank you for the interesting and beautiful blackwork video. Can you tell me who makes your embroidery clamp? I have been looking everywhere for one and your style seems a good fit. I would like one that I can flip to the back if needed, and the ones I've seen online don't have that ability.

Yes, please make more new skills videos. I love seeing new techniques being made. It helps to appretiate the craftsmanship and puts in perspective how much time it takes for even the small details on garments...

I think blackwork is gorgeous, I just haven't had the courage to give it a go yet as I hate using hoops. I will try to embroider some cuff bindings on my new chemise and see how it goes. More little projects please!

Lovely project. I serge (or simply zigzag) my edges especially when it comes to Aida fabric. Don’t ask me how I got to learn this…😅
