Driving a Semi-Truck in the Snow
A couple of the ways that I’ve been able to keep my truck on the road in the snow are:
1. I back off my speed
While driving in the snow, I don’t drive right at the speed limit or try to push it. I back off, and drive within a controlled, safe speed.
2. I don’t do anything drastic
In the snow, I never do anything in a panic. I don’t jerk the steering wheel, I don’t stab the parking break, I don’t hurry and try to power through a situation using the gas pedal. If I feel my truck breaking loose, I keep my calm and ride it out.
So, while you’re driving a semi-truck in the snow, keep calm—don’t over-react, don’t panic, and then ride it out if you feel yourself breaking loose. Don’t do anything drastic—don’t stab a break, don’t jerk the steering wheel to steer away.
When driving in the snow, you just want to ride smooth and keep your wits about you. Usually, if you do, the vehicle will recoup on its own and you can keep safely going down the road.
Hope that helps. Hope to see ya out there.
Now go drive your dreams.
