How to Close All Apps at Once on Android Phone (See Recent Apps)

The 3 line icon at lower left stopped working and nothing happens when I try to use it. It used to work and I enjoyed the "close all" button. Now I get nothing. THERE ARE OTHERS HERE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. Can someone please help??!!! Thank you.
