This was spot on. I feel validated and hurt at the same time.

Its been over 28 years and I'm just now realizing I might have some form of ADD. I really appreciate your videos Dr. Marks. Education is part of the process of understanding yourself and what makes you tick.

"with the inattentive, disorganized type you can see things like procrastination.. "
Me: "Yep"
"..being late all the time.. "
Me: "well. not like "every" time tho'...."
"...and loosing things"
Me: "..got me there, i kinda forget where i leave things.. happened today too"
"...poor follow through and not finishing projects"
Me: "guilty again... .. we're talking years.. in one particular case just about a decade"
"...wondering thought"
Me: "... sorry, what? please repeat that"
"clutter"
Me: "those are perfectly good boxes and i am still adding to that pile of washed clothes.. i'll do it after i do the dishes.."
"...forgetfulness"
Me: "called it!"
"...anxiety"
Me: "please make it stop... the list is long enough already"

But also me: i am not "celebrating" it, i am glad i became aware of it and that i had access to information to help me deal with it; it started with a fall into burnout, followed by a sabbatical break (that included the pandemic, of all the things) that gave me time for observation and introspection. the incremental steps started to pay off little over a year ago, and things are going steady towards a good direction; just remember you won't heal it, and you have a duty to keep working around it.

As an 11 year old girl, it is hard in school because I have inattentive disorganized type, I try my hardest, but I do know as I get older it might be getting a little harder. Doing homework makes me cry. A LOTTT. But that’s kind of anyone. I talk way to much, I lose things A lot, but when I tell people I have it (so they understand how I act) they seem surprised or like I suffer from it? It’s not a disability or anything bad. But it’s hard to live with it sometimes.

I think I've always had some form of ADD as both a kid and an adult. I'm pretty I was actually diagnosed as having the ADHD-Inattentive Disorganized type because I relate so much to the second type that Dr. Tracy has described. My parents actually took me to a doctor to figure out what was "wrong" since I barely paid attention in class and rarely ever did my homework unless my mom had to force me to sit down and do it like a damn drill sargent. We were told that I might've had ADD back then but my parents essentially cussed that doctor out and claimed there was nothing wrong with me and took me out of that doctor's office that same day. I'll never forget that for as long as I live honestly.

I've explored this with my doctor. It was a fun game of is it ADD or is it the result of life long Depression

This was spot on for the disorganised type. As someone who's been diagnosed with ADD and high-functioning Aspergers, it was interesting to see this Short.

I hope getting diagnosed can lead to tools to help deal with it better. I'm less interested in claiming a "disability" than getting some treatment.

Im not yet diagnosed, but i am definitely suspecting inattentive adhd. I have been learning about adhd for the last couple months and that inattentive type part of this video literally just described every part of my life perfectly. Hopefully my mom takes me to get an evaluation soon

I was diagnosed ADD in first grade and still struggle with the inattentive symptoms. They are frustrating to live with, both for me and for others.

With cptsd/ptsd and add-mix it’s had for me to know how to properly treat my issues.

there needs to be way more information about the inattentive disorganized type. This type is pretty neglected because its more common for woman and also this type dosen´t make a lot of noice. So often goes unnoticed and even overlooked by doctors. Dissapointing! Doctors should work over country borders togethers, switching information. Its strange that the U.S diagnosesway more ADD or ADHD than in europe.

I believe that I do have both types and it’s kind of nice to know that you could have that. My psychiatrist told me that he can’t test me for ADHD because I have depression and it has overlapping symptoms. However, ADHD makes me feel more depressed because of the things I’m unable to do in my life as well. is this true?

Yes this is what I have been dealing with

What do I do if my parents won’t let me get tested? I have the majority of symptoms and they think it’s an excuse for my grades dropping, turning assignments in late, and not turning assignments in at all. I need something to be done but they won’t let me get tested, what do I do?

I’m a 15 year old who think that I have add because I fit all the descriptions I’ve been researching this for almost 4 years because I’ve always felt like I’ve had it but I don’t want to self diagnose. But my parents think that it’s fake and say that i don’t have it. There are signs of adhd in my little brother and he even got a note from his school saying to get it checked out but they just made him switch school. I feel like he needs to get the help cuz he’s not doing good in school. I dont know I think I’m gonna wait till I’m 18 to get it checked out.
