How much money does Spongebob Squarepants make?

If Mr krabs is so cheap that he pays Spongebob and Squidward cents, or in some cases they have to PAY HIM for breathing or existing, yet it seems Spongebob is pretty well off.

Today we're using the evidence shown in some episodes of the show to answer this question.

Spongebob made some millions by smashing the like button.
Maybe not true, but it would be nice if you do it

SpongeBob is rich so he doesn't need to make much money. He instead focuses on his passions and does what makes him happy rather than attempting to get wealthier.
I think that is truly inspiring.

You know a show is good when there’s an episode-length video debating a character’s salary

I think the city pays him Anti-Nuisance money, where spongebob was essentially forced to live in his house, as not to annoy any other person.

I guarantee that Spongebob is just independently wealthy. He just works at the Krusty Krab because he finds the work fulfilling and it keeps him occupied for a large portion of his time. I can definitely say that if I was independently wealthy to the point where I didn't have to work, I'd probably still work a day or two a week at my current job because it's literally the only reason I have to socialize with other people. Helps keep you mentally sharp and all that.

And Squidward definitely comes from money. He went to school with Squilliam. I think his parents give him money every month he is working minimum wage, until he hits the big time with his art and music.

In the episode when he broke Gary's shell, and all the shells at angry Jack's store, he had to give Jack some of his organs to repay him, but in the next scene SpongeBob is fine because his organs grow back, my dark theory is he sells his organs to make money since they grow back anyway, which is how he gets by despite Mr. Krabs being so cheap, lol

My head cannon is that SpongeBob actually has a crapton of money in some sort of high-interest savings account that he debits for bills and basic nessecities. Anything else is from his shenanigans because, as you pointed out, he losing money from his 'job'. He had to have had something like that to be able to buy the pineapple outright. Or maybe he worked other jobs prior to the series.

I wouldn't be surprised if customers tipped SpongeBob out of pity cuz they know how bad management is there

I would argue that Squidwards also has some kind of income that we don't see.
We know his obsession with luxury life and fine arts but we also see how much he tries to live it.
We see him having import foods, organic foods, expensive cutlery and ceramics, expensive looking furniture AND a tone of expensive materials for his art.
As an artist I can say that Squidwards spends an insane amount of money on material, from marble for his statues (which can go for over 1500 dollars a block and we see him sculpting multiples) to paints (he would most likely use more expensive ones as he sees himself so highly, a midrange Faber Castell oil color set would be around 25 dollars for 12 paints and it wouldn't be enough for one of those big paintings) not to mention canvases, brushes, chisels and so on.

In a strange sense, Spongebob may not just be an employee for the Krusty Krab, but a financial supporter: he sincerely loves his work there, so it would be in his interest to support Eugene's efforts. This is especially interesting because Spongebob has been pushed out of the job by Krabs for various reasons, meaning that he's willing to set aside a potential asset for the good of the restaurant.

Krabs may be cheap, but he's also committed to maintaining his work as a resturaunt owner. We see this quite clearly in the Kraby-o-Mondays episode, where the money he earns from the Howard Blandy Foundation doesn't give the same satisfaction as what he earns when he operated the restaurant itself. His devotion is the Krusty Krab, and it's profitability, and not just the profitability of any other business venture he could take.

Before starting this video I was thinking to myself “I hope they don’t come to this conclusion using real world logic or calculations.” Instantly verified it wasn’t and now I’m invested.
