Personally, I think his past explains it pretty well. As a child, he was poor. Now he owns a widely-loved fast food restaurant and is most likely rich beyond his wildest dreams. If I never had money to begin with, I would be obsessed with it and want to save as much of it as I could, too.

Maybe it is because he doesn't want to be in poverty again

i believe that money is something krabs knew he needed to be accepted, but his hording skills his mom taught him made him think money is more of a collectible then a currency, like pokemon cards, he didnt have to adapt to a rich lifestyle because he felt like the skills his mom taught him made him wealthy in his own way, and when he loses money, its more like just losing profits from your important bussinuss

I believe that it may be on a psychological level, relating to his relationship with his father. Mr. Krabs said himself that his own father gave him a dollar, which he was reluctant to spend, because it was given to him by his father, whom was missing from his life from his early years. Money may represent the relationship with his father, which he feels spending said money is comparable to pushing away the relationship he had with his own father.

I feel like Mr. Krabs likes money because he doesn't want his mother, daughter, or himself to suffer in poverty again/ever. And he grew an obsession over it after a while.

Crabs are genetically greedy. In one episode, he stated that it was every crab's dream to have a million dollars. And in another episode, he went to a cheap convention full of crabs

I think Mr. Krabs used to have the very new money type spending practices, however, his wife (pearls mother) was upset with his carelessness with money and she left him and ever since then mr krabs has been obsessivly and unhealthily frugal to both satisfy his love of money and in a way, make up for his bad spending practices that led to his divorce

10:51 maybe because he is afraid of becoming poor again so he takes care of his money

Are dollar bills in bikini bottom made of seaweed that would explain why it's not ruined underwater

After watching so many videos of coconut crabs, if I saw one in real life I legitimately don't know if I would think it was awesome or if I would be terrified. Realistically I'd probably just throw my wallet at it and then run away. They're still cool, though!

Hope you enjoyed this week's episode!

How come Sandy is the same size as other bikini bottom citizens? Why is she so small underwater? Shouldnt she be bigger than most of them?

This is actually kind of like my grandfather now that I think of it. My grandfather grew up poor but became a successful worker, trader, and negotiator. He was always incredibly frugal and a bit of a money and object hoarder too, but not nearly to the extent of Mr. Krabs.

The theory where mermaid man and barnacle boy are fish can be easily proven wrong.
Your theory is that they are fish because they are the same size as spongebob and the others but when they go up to land the humans are much larger. This is because of the episode spongebob steals mermaid mans belt and shrinks the whole town. In the end of the episode the town stays shurnk. Retcon anyone?
