Photoshop Quick Tips - Episode 1: Stretch a Background

This episode is the first of a new series I'm starting where I give a single quick Photoshop tip.

In this episode I demonstrate an easy way expand or stretch out a background of an image in Photoshop. This comes in handy when you have a vertical shot but need a horizontal shot instead.

This and future episodes of Photoshop Quick Tips can be viewed here:

I've used this technique on basic gradient backgrounds as well. If you add just a small amount of blur it'll take care of that minor horizontal stretched look.

Awesome this would work for me for my web site banner. Thanks for sharing.

For a future video it might be interesting to see how to colorize an old B&W image.

I really like the Quick Tips; short enough that I can remember what to do.

This is not working for me. When I grab and pull the handle to the right, it also extends vertically as well not just to the right as if the measurements for that area select are locked. How can if correct this so I am only extending the background to the right and not beyond the top/bottom of the image /: Thanks!

Does the streched part not get pixelated or ugly?

Content Aware Scale is a better option for this

This really upsets me. I spent at least 30min trying to figure out how to do this and I didn't recall you covering this in any of the videos. Then I decided to check your channel to see if you posted anything new and here you are posting this. Just my luck lol.
