That's good, vinegar will work too, hotter the better and at least over night. It's most important to get the carbon off the inside insulator. Carbon is conductive and fouls the plug. After soaking, brush the insulator with comet and a tooth brush to clean off the carbon. Rinse with hot water, and repeat comet scrubbing until center insulator looks as white as possible, light tan color is okay, black color is bad.

Now I see why auto parts stores have a soda section😅😅😅

How well did it clean inside the end of the plug? Near the ceramic insulator?

The brush looks like it is stainless steel 2:50 ?? Would using Coke Cola in a ultrasound make the process go faster ??? Nice video Sir too. v

Will a brass brush work as well? Great video, very informative.

Ive always hit them with a torch for about 30 seconds to a minute best way to see if the core and the insolator has separated gas gets trapped between them and burns off. Works better at getting all the carbon built up on the ceramic and down in the plug than just a wire brush and soaking them

What is the proper way to remove oil from the spark plug well? My valve
gasket was broken and some oil accumulated in the wells. In one film
they said you can't remove those spark plugs since the oil will go
somewhere where it is not supposed to be.

How much longer did you use them after cleaning them before replacing them? Great video presentation

Active ingredient in Coca Cola is phosphoric acid. Any mild acid solution would probably work. Vinegar is acetic acid, for example.

Salt water is notorious as a corrosive agent, hence adding salt to the mixture. At a microscopic level the salt probably causes some surface pitting, but at that scale it likely doesn't really matter.

Anyway, I have some spark plugs to clean so I'll take what I learned here and try to apply it with what I have on hand. Thanks Andy!

When we clean spark plug using sand paper, will the remains of the sand on the spark plug affect the engine any way like damaging internal parts?

Seems a waste to soak for hours when you still have to spend an hour wire brushing them.

During the cleaning time, what did you do to prevent anything falling into the spark plug holes? I would be worried leaving them open overnight. I’m probably overreacting.
