after washing bearings with a solvent make sure it is all flashed off or it can dilute the new grease, can be useful to blow out the bearings with compressed air before repacking, great for drying and removing any remaining dirt. great tutorial, I repack bearings myself regularly it extends the life greatly

A related side note: for low speed bearings like headset, suspension and pedals, I've been using a polymer lithium complex grease called Fuchs Poliplex 2. It is the most horrible shit to handle, stringy, sticky and smells just plain toxic lol. But for keeping moisture out and giving lasting performance, based on my experience, it is awesome. Also, I have no affiliation with the company, I simply rate this product highly enough to recommend it :)

Cannondale Lefty/headshok needle bearings FTW : ) Also mounting your bike on a bike rack especially on the roof of your car and driving in the rain is a prime suspect for knackering bearings. Stick the bike in the car whack up the heating and brush the dried mud off when you get home. Much better.

Open bearings drive me wild, rather hilariously I've never thought to use a magnet to help me not lose them because it appears I am a spaz. Ah well, you know what they say about learning things everyday.

Nice shed Neal.

Its always nice to get your parts on ebay if you need to replace them. The one downside to ebay is it takes a while to deliver, but if you buy it before the parts go out, you will save 65% of your money, and you will have the part ready when it blows, just a tip too keep in mind.

on open bearings dont forget to replace the ball bearings in them. as they are cheap and will save wear in the races.

Works great, no issues. Fills and empties easily.

Great video really useful! So important to do this when the bike needs it! I normally do it before i go on holiday!

I think that the grease you use does make a difference. Some greases become pasty over time like the stuff inside the sealed bearing he pulled apart, whilst some greases remain slick. I use motorex bike grease 2000, which seems to remain slick longer than plain teflon grease. Just don't go slapping vaseline on your bearings!

Do a video on how to service your forks rear suspension and whole bike

Noob question but, if you account for the amount of time taken cleaning and lubing and the cost of the tools and grease....over a lifetime isn't it worth buying new (especially if you factor time)?
