The Best Bible Version May Depend on Your Education Level

These are my tips on Bible versions as well as where to read depending on what's going on in your life. Please share your recommendations in the comments as well!

This is just one question from a long interview I did for the moderators of the r/Bible subreddit. They asked their subreddit to send me a bunch of questions and I spent a lot of time preparing so that I would be able to offer the best answers I could. I'll be posting these answers as individual videos so keep an eye out for the rest in the set.

I'm Mike Winger and my goal is to help you learn to think biblically about everything!

I go live every Monday and Friday at 1pm. Monday is usually a vs by vs teaching and Friday is a live Q&A where I take questions from the live chat on YT.

I was an atheist, then theist, became Muslim and remained that way for several years until I got the idea to read Islam as a critic. I'm no longer Muslim and I'm now reading and learning about Christianity. Recently bought ESV study Bible. Looking forward to where this journey takes me.

I’m so excited. I wanted to go buy the ESV and rushed to Walmart (only big store in my city 😢) and they didn’t have it. I ordered my Bible on Amazon and I’m restraining myself from reading the KJV until I get the ESV. Never in a million years did I think I would be so excited to read the Bible. God had opened my eyes. Praise him ❤️🙏✝️

Wow! I came out of the occult before I got saved. I couldn't even say the Name of Jesus Christ without getting chills, and not the good ones. It was a long process. And I LOVED the book of Romans! That book just helped me so much, to get to know what it's all about. So spot on! But here you also see that the Holy Spirit helps.

Romans always brings me back to the basics. When I am feeling like im out of wack in my theology I read Romans. God bless. 😊

I love the King Jame’s version. It didn’t make sense before but since coming to Christ, it speaks to me in a way that it can only be from God. I pray before I read and ask the Holy Spirit to enlighten me.

I grew up using NKJV and ESV, but I always liked the NLT version best and I never understood why I kept coming back to that translation. Flash forward a decade later, and I became an ESL teacher. I came to find that the NLT is the best one to use with ESL students! :)

I really do like the ESV, but honestly the KJV is the only one that has the poetry quality that allows me to memorize the scripture. I'm not a KJV-only person at all, but there truly is something magical about the cadence and art of that translation. Highly memorable, so still one of my favorites!

I used to be a KJV only and I didnt even read the bible much🙈 Im a fan of the ancient English... Yet the NLT brought great revelation and understanding once I ACTUALLY started reading the Bible.

I'm an ESV guy, but I also highly recommend the CSB for new believers and for everybody else.

I also love the KJV. When your kids grow up taking turns reading the KJV during devotion time, they naturally become accustomed to the older style of writing, so that wasn't a problem for us.

7 minutes? I need more 2 hour videos!! I feel like not only do I learn so much but it makes me want to dive even deeper in the Bible and study for myself. I loved the 2 hour videos on Catholics, Mormons, and JW. I didnt know 99% of that stuff. You should have a deep dive series 🤔😌

For feeling anxious, I always recommend the Psalms! It's my favorite place to go when my anxiety gets really out of hand. Job has also gotten me through some very hard times. I did a great study on it through She Reads Truth last year right before a very hard point in my life (pre-COVID).

Starting with the Gospels is an excellant advice...especially if you use a reference Bible...and keep going back to read the OT context...it makes bible study so fun

Took 42 years to believe but I’m here now ❤️🙏🏼.
I was gifted a bible by my local church Fr when I was enquiring.
Started reading this ESV version. Then bought a study bible.
I started from the beginning as I didn’t have a clue where to start. For me my faith only grows stronger the more I read. The more I read the more I want to go to church, the more I want to learn, the more I want to improve.
I’ll get a different version after reading this one but I also want to get some study material after reading as well.
Any advice on what I should look into learning more about will be greatly received and appreciated.
