After seven months of tense EU-China relations, leaders in Brussels and Beijing are picking up the phone and talking again. Shifting domestic and international interests are driving a wedge in the bilateral relationship, especially after the recent tit-for-tat sanctions. This high-level briefing aims to reflect on the opportunities and challenges for the EU-China relationship, the Comprehensive Agreement on Investment (CAI), Taiwan and potential cooperation for sustained dialogue on climate change, connectivity, and economic recovery post-Covid-19.

Ambassador Zhang Ming set out China’s priorities for EU-China relations and took part in a question and answer session, chaired by EPC Senior Adviser, Shada Islam.
