The stakes in the fight against global warming are higher than ever, the UN’s climate science chief said Monday as nearly 200 nations met to finalise what is sure to be a harrowing report on climate impacts.

I live in California. We had consecutive record high temps last week. On one of those days it was about 94f. We are no strangers to heat. But, this has become notable over the decades. We used to have snow in our mountains most of the year even during drought. We have lost an incredible number of trees due to weather and infestations that thrive in such conditions. And we have winter wild fires.
No amount of proof will sway the nay sayers. The more obvious our crisis the further detached and fanatic the climate crisis deniers become.

Rightly, there area lot of dramatic headlines concerning climate change. However, some of it is simply untrue. A classic example were the recent wildfires in California, the worst on record. The headlines have been and gone. It was discovered the fires were started by an electrical fault. But since the headlines have been and gone, few take much notice. The same as the apparent temperature busting readings taken in Sicily. After the headlines have been and gone, it was discovered the figures were completely inaccurate. There are plenty more similar stories, but as they say bad news sells newspapers.
