If you can’t pay cash for it, then you can’t afford it.

These days, it doesn't even matter what the item is or how much it costs. There's always an option to make payments. If you are more worried about the payments than the actual price of the item, then you cannot afford that item.

This new guy is a great host... He has a great personality. He has enough confidence and wisdom

I use it just in case there is a problem with the item it's easier to dispute or return the item.

They are not doing it to help the consumer. They are a business and they are in it to make money. Be careful and don't fall for these type of programs.

Horrible idea to purchase on these plans. I was in a store where someone was returning something they bought and After Pay and wanted the entire amount refunded even though only one payment had been made. It was a mess.

I wonder what they think of QVC easy pay and HSN’s flex pay.

Law away doesn't really exist anymore except in maybe a few retailers. I never used it because I always forgot about whatever the thing was lol.

Can you give us a link to the podcast he’s referring to? I’d like to listen to it.

I think there is something to unpack here, Buy now pay later is not bad if you're smart about it and it help your budgeting.
I use it, but I have always been able to purchase whatever I want upfront 2 - 3 times over. I'm never in a position where I can't afford it, so I split the payments. Thats the problem most people fall into, you should be able to afford it, before using it, not the other way around. People need self control, its not hard.

Not trying to be a smart alec but if you choose the option to pay it off in 4 payments then it is interest free. I've use a few times and the only fee I've ever paid was a service fee that ranges anywhere from $1-$5 that's it. I personally feel like the pay in 4 is better using than a credit card bc you are forced to pay it off in a specific time frame. That's just IMO.

Nah, I disagree. I have money coming in but don’t want to use it all at once.

What do you think Ramsay would say? It is a trap, but I use it occasionally.

I know it’s the same but for more exxy items it can be nice to keep the cash in your bank and pay it off rather than transferring money around.

Before 2022 is over, somebody somewhere will finance a bowl of oatmeal.

Do you have to pay interest or is this a no interest option?

That is called getting into debt. It kinda sounds like a no no in Dave's world.

What if you ACTUALLY NEED the item now and you weren't able to prepare for it in your current budget?

It's true you are more likely to spend if you can break up the payment

The key to everything is budgeting. If you already set aside the money to buy something, it should not matter when you pay it. Just be disciplined about spending, which many people are not
