Thank you so much! You make it so easy to understand. I was trying to help my son who is in 5th Grade and now they are teaching them the Common Core Program which is not easy for parents to explain to their kids without confusing them. I also love your video on finding the perimeter of an L Shaped Polygon. Your videos really helped both of us to understand the total concept.

Thank you for this, but I was a bit confused by the fact that you multiplied (9cm) with (14cm) instead of using the original number (18cm). why would you have to do that? I would appreciate an explanation to better understand the math problem, thanks again! :)

so you just have to add both the areas and you don't have to write the final area as, "Number x Number = Total answer?

From what you said, I agree the area would be 293

Before watching this vid I did the same exact thing, and still the answer doesnt fit none of my multiple choice.. my problem is.. 26(where ur 14cm is) 21(where ur 18cm is) 3(where ur 9cm is) and 10(where ur 4cm is) which makes my missing sides 23(where ur 5cm is) and 11.. so my area1=26x10 which is 260 and my area2=3x11 which is 33 i add them together and got 293.. but my multiple choice says 403 is the correct answer and I dont see how.. I would like to know how they got that answer.
