Astronomers have discovered a Super-Earth orbiting a star that is 10 billion years old! The planet has been named TOI-651b and is a rocky world 50% larger than the Earth. This is an important discovery for planetary scientists. It shows that the universe has been forming rocky planets since its inception 14 billion years ago.

The planet orbits the star TOI 581 that is 280 light-years away. It is so close to its parent star that it completes one orbit in just 12 hours. Due to its proximity to the star, the surface temperature is about 1726 degrees Celsius. It is too hot to harbor any known form of life.
