How Are Hinduism and Buddhism Similar?

The four Dharmic religions (Hindu-Buddhist-Jain-Sikhism) native to the land of Bharat share ideas of Karma, Dharma, Samsara, Moksha, and Yoga.

In Buddhism Dhamma is the Prakrit word for the Sanskrit word Dharma and in Jainism, the word "Dharma" is termed as 'dharmastikaay' and In Sikhism called 'Dharman'.

here is my answer, Buddha or Siddharta was son of Suddhadana (a hindu king of now known as nepal). He traveled through many-many hindu tempal and learned about things. and re-invented "Sadhana" as "Vipasana". He never created another religion but Buddhisam. Buddha is a title for those who got bodhi-satwa. So yea Buddhisam is a sect or branch of Hinduisam / Sanatan Dharma. ITS NOT SIMILAR, ITS SAME THING IN DIFFERENT PACKEG.

Buddha possibly studied from other religions, such as Hinduism, Jainism in search of the end of suffering. However no religions could give Him any answer. Then He decided to search within and achieve enlightment. So can't say Buddhism is part of Hinduism. Buddha has no teacher to reach enlightment. Perhaps Hinduism nearly found a way of achieving enlightment, but Buddha found it totally. Therefore, they look similar.

Hinduism & Buddhism are just like black & white colors. They are fundamentally opposed to each other in tenets. To say that Buddhism evolved out of hinduism is both laughable & utter foolishness.

Of course, hinduism is older. But it's virtue of seniority doesn't bestow on it the title of better religion. Buddhism is more peaceful religion than many others, including hinduism.

For this very reason, it was persecuted in india & faded off from the land of its birth. Yet, what was a loss to india had become a gain of 12/13 countries where it had spread & is still flourishing.

Many Hindus here downgrading Buddha dhamma, in fact these Hindus do not even know what is Buddha dhamma and I am certain they have not read any holy books like "Tripitak" and that is difference between Hindus and Buddhists. Most Hindus were preached hatred against Buddhists by their Gurus and Pundits but in the contrary, Buddhists do not care what Hindus think of Buddha dhamma or nor they care about what they have to say. Hindus claim prince Siddhartha was born in Hindu family but that is a whole different topic.

Hinduism and Buddha dhamma is nowhere near or close in philosophy. It is vast differences. Buddha debated Hindu Brahmins in many occasions in his lifetime and still manage to become supreme of all and sprayed peace and serenity towards all sentient beings.
