If that yellowed one isn’t painted it honestly looks kind of cool, it looks kind of like gold

I like the idea of the ones that have yellowed. I think it adds character, and shows that it holds the memories of kids having fun playing

The later snes consoles actually used a different type of plastic that is much more resistant to yellowing

Either that or someone smoked 2000 packs of cigarettes a day

I've seen a few ways to reverse this, but generally they all involve hydrogen peroxide and UV lights. My favorite was a clear storage tub wrapped in UV LED strips then in aluminum foil to reflect the light back, then filled with liquid H2O2 that the parts would soak in. I've also seen cheaper options such as H2O2 paste and a single UV light in a chamber made out of cardboard lined with foil.

I forget where I heard it, but I remember that SNES plastic having a chemical in it (wanna say phosphorus) that was added to make it flame retardant, but made it significantly more susceptible to yellowing.

I remember hearing they actually turned yellow because of a fireproofing agent they added to the plastic (I remember hearing the plastic had bromine in it)

What I like seeing is like 10x of th3 same consol3, and seeing how each one has different parts yellowing and some parts remaining their original color. It shows the different ingredients used at different times in different factories.

"Why is the plastic yellow? Believe it or not but it's because the plastic turns yellow."

My Nintendo turned yellow on it's own without sunlight it just shows how much it's aged over the years and it still works
