Why the #fediverse is awesome! #shorts

The architecture behind the #fediverse is in his name: It is a federated universe of social media software that can be run by anyone on thousands of servers called instances.

Any instance of any kind of #fediverse related software can speak to each others as they speak the same language/protocol named #activitypub.

This is the reason why the effects shown in the video can work where two different instances of two different kind of software speak with each other exchanging and displaying data.

In the end it is like you could see in Twitter what a friend posted on Instagram or vice versa. Isn’t that cool and useful? You do not need to have accounts on all those different platforms as they can speak to each and get federated.

Try it out on your own, make up your thoughts. Nowadays I think it is important to trust less in big companies, but rather in small instances owned by people like you and me. And in case you don’t like the server, the community there or the server basically is about to be shut down, you can move your account simply to another one.
