I like how Jimi had a little swing vibe to little wing. I've always wished the original was longer.

Hendrix is known to be the greatest for his skill and technique on this axe! Songs like Little Wing are definitely not to be underestimated at all, being a challenge for anyone and everyone. Cheers!

Castles Made Of Sand was the one that I strived to learn back in the day. It's a panty dropper!

I remember my guitar teacher telling me in the 80’s that this was a lesser known Hendrix song, and it was the Clapton/Derek and the Dominoes version that was big back in the day. Funny how perception of songs change over time.

Nice job. 3 years into my guitar journey and it's people like you, Robert, that are my reliable teachers and inspiration accompanying me. Jimi was amazing, and this is a song I've tried to pick up several times already but it's always been just too much. I'm feeling more confident in my playing day by day, and I think it's time to give Little Wing another shot. Thanks for the inspiration!

You are right about the downstrokes. The difference is big and it's something that many players overlook when covering songs.

Hey Robert, you can always reference Andy Aledort's (from Guitar World) Hendrix lessons whenever you might be unsure about a part. He's a Hendrix aficionado, and I'm almost 100% sure he did a very in-depth and detailed whole lesson on Little Wing, to where he even covered the gear he used and probably the history of the recording.

Your tone sounds so darn great in this video. Excellent playing too. :)

A great video, Robert. Your respect for Hendrix and humility about your own playing are very inspiring: a real antidote to players who imply that Hendrix has been somehow surpassed by shredders. The way I think about his playing, for what it’s worth, is that he is essentially a master of inventive rhythm playing and then works into his progressions endless little melodic flourishes which are suggested by the chord voicings. You can therefore always hear the progression clearly within the improvisations. More than anything, his fingers are guided by the feeling the song serves to express and this gives the whole thing—words, chords, flourishes—a wonderful strong unity. Isn’t that the reason why it’s possible to learn the notes but something—that feeling the song came from—remains elusive?

"No drums this time just something chill" comes in full 80s just smokin at the end, with drums hahaha! Awesome!

Sorry if this is a double comment because the other one Great playing! I learned the live version from the original In the West album long ago... After all these years it's still one of the most beautiful tunes I've ever heard.... We miss you Jimi..

I love Hendrix and I play his 3 finger style because I'm self taught. I remember watching his and Paul Kossoff's hands and that's how I learned to play. I'm 40 and played since I was 7. Lately I can't play like I want because my fingers go numb and my whole hands lock up. I don't know what to do. I'm dying inside because I can only strum around and only a few seconds at a time. I wanna rock for hours like I used to do. Thanks for your channel and at least I get to see u rock out. Please do me a favor and play more Leslie West and Paul Kossoff riffs with a lot of the 38spcl licks. U will be amazed how genius their styles were. Especially Leslie West. He's the king of one note and one p90.

You are very modest. I think you did it well.
