Will the roots of fruit trees disturb and crack the concrete or fencing aat the base? I plan on espaliering some trees at my new house and am kind of worried about this. What do you think ?

Great video. I’m planing to train a apricot tree I grew from seed last year as an espalier. The other apricot I planing to create a goblet shape with it and keep it pruned short so my 5’2” self can reach to harvest with our a ladder.

I'm a novice so sorry if a stupid question but how can you tell the difference between a fruit bearing branch that you need and just a normal branch you need to clip off

As a “just thought it’d be worth a shot” I topped off a dormant plum ( it didn’t have any branches at the right heights) tree I’d got for free in the hopes that I could force some buds. Is this even a possible thing? I was thinking I could start a new leader. Any thoughts?

Do you keep the tree attached to the training wires/frames for the rest of it’s life? Or, do you remove them after the espalier is established?

Hi, do espalier have to be against a wall?

Do I need to buy an already trained tree or can I get one of those $30 regular trees and prune it down to what I want?

Hi. When do I cut the top of my espalier (which is a bit smaller than yours on the vid), in order to force lateral branches? Also, I think I cut the wrong lateral that is the right height for my wire.

How could you tell that the one branch was one you wanted to cut off rather than train?
