Great song written by Mr. McCartney. Thanks for sharing.

The song was recorded with bass player Ron Griffiths as the band was still titled as The Iveys. When Ron exited the group and Joey came on board, Tom switched to bass and the band retitled as Badfinger.

Joey was such a cutie. He looked like he could have been Paul’s younger brother. ♥️ Rest in peace Joey, Mike, Tom and Pete. 💔

This is Macca at his most prescriptive. He made the demo at Abbey Road in the middle of the night, he says, when he just popped in from his house round the corner. The studio was ready for the following day with drums and piano mic'd up. He had his bass. One if the Beatles engineers was there and was persuaded to record Macca playing Drums, Bass, Piano and vocal. Job done. Pure genius McCartney - so pure. Paul told Badfinger to play it exactly like his demo and they'd get a massive hit. They did!

The shortest a career by a band that belongs in the R&R hall of fame! This, No Matter What, Day After Day, Baby Blue and Without You are the greatest power pop R&R songs of the 70’s all done in less than 3 years 1969-1972. The R&R hall of fame is a sham or shame! Why are ELP and Grand Funk Railroad not in yet? Lost all respect for it for taking so long to recognize Chicago, The Moody Blues and Chicago not to mention the disgraceful way that Steve Miller and Todd Rundgren were inducted!

So tragic, and all about money as usual. A great loss. I loved them!

This song is always tinged with sadness for me when I think of what happened to Pete Ham and Tom Evans.
