Recently bought a new Equinox 800 w/wireless headphones. Spent a couple of hours on YouTube learning fom your videos to be more efficent and successfull in my adventures. I have wanted a metal detector when I would see the ads in coin magazines when I was 8 yrs old as an apprentice coin collector from my Grandmother. Now 57yrs old, Retired, Veteran, time and desire...Thank You so much for your videos.

Excellent video with lots of info for everyone Mark.
A big mistake I see lots of people make is not overlapping your swings. You can watch this with so many youtube guys too. They take a swing and move up two feet and swing back. In the meantime, they just missed a huge triangle of ground.
That's probably another reason no place is ever really hunted out. People walk in a hurry and miss so much stuff.

You do a fantastic job of planning your content and delivering the information. Thank you for the quality video. I'm just starting into detecting and appreciate your take on doing things. I'm very conscientious and like how you do the "first right of refusal by the landowner". That is a sign of integrity. I also like your liability considerations. Well done! Thank you.

I've been detecting for 15 years, forests, fields, and beaches. All the pieces of advice given in the video are top notch. Here are the ones I give when anyone asks me.
1) NEVER DESPAIR. Some walk-out are... boring.
2) Swing your coil parallel to the ground.
3) Know perfectly your machine. That mean read the manual, chat on forums, make your own tests.
4) Get a second pack of CHARGED batteries.
5 Never do anything illegal (respect private property, report found guns, stolen items, hidden drug stashes or human remains) or dangerous (never ever fiddle with some unexploded ordinance or funky chemical containers). Be prepared, all this will happen. To you.
6) NEVER DESPAIR.

Thanks for a great video but you say it's important to choose the right order. First sensitivity, noise cancel and last ground balance. Is it the same method for the Manticore.

Great tips!.. Thank You!.. I especially like the one of asking the older folks where they had swam or had family and public gatherings.

Another great video with excellent tips and content. My 3 major take aways were;
1)The spiral outwards technique
2)Sensitivity to high before noise cancel
3) liability / permission combo form.
Always looking forward to your vids. Thanks again from CA Gold Country.

I just started learning the art of metal detecting and thus far find it a very enjoyable recreation as well as a definite learning curve for sure . On the subject of getting permissions I have a lot of experience . I was a successful bottle digger for some years and had many incredible discoveries . I did a lot of research and another great place to find information is historical society and docents at local museums who are there just for that reason . They love having people to share their knowledge with and keeping local history alive . It is important that we do that kind of investigative research and it is equally as important that you share your discovery's with them. But back to the permissions thing .I find it really funny now but when I was first learning I had a friend who was a very good digger who was I guess one of my mentors. Ethically not so good unfortunately . He taught me just to go dig if you didn't know who the owner was . He said when the owner shows up you just tell him that you have found the best way to find the owner is to go dig a hole on their property . LoL
