Burgentrucküng may also translate to “mountain king”. In genocide route, you fight sans in the “judgement hall”.
You could say that sans is fighting you…..
*in the hall of the mountain king.*

his original theme as in the collectors edition set of items is called "Bereavement" which means "a state of intense grief, as after the loss of a loved one"

The ASGORE theme is like a good person trying to do what's best for his people.

bergentrückung is one of my favourite words. from what i've read about the word, it's basically german for "the sleeping mountain king." it's absolutely wonderful and 100% describes Asgore perfectly.

Bergentrückung refers to a motif in European folklore where a king or hero is not truly dead but is instead in a state of suspended animation, awaiting the right moment to return and restore his people to greatness. In the case of Friedrich Barbarossa, it is said that he did not die but is instead sleeping in the Kyffhäuser Mountain in Germany.

I knew that the name (unpronounceable as it is) of this music had a meaning but I didn't think it was so precise. However, I wonder why Toby Fox chose a German word for the name of this ost and not a word from another language... Anyway thanks for this explanation, it's actually really interesting !

Bergentrückung is an acronym, it stands for:
Burgers
Eating
Ramen
Going
Eenside (it's a double e bacause yes)
Nobody
Truck
Right?
Ü (just a smiley face)
Can
King
U (first letter of "destroy" in æūpîr language)
N (same thing, it's "twitter" now)
G ("please")

i LOVE this style of video!! please please PLEASE do more of these, this is really cool (though, i might just be biased as an anthropology graduate with a huge interest in folklore :))

Love how all translations either have it be a legendary trope deeply connected to Asgore himself, a ferocious beast rearing up for a fight, or excavation

i had not heard of the legend before but even without it the name makes sense. because „bergentrückung“ is made up of 2 other words those being: „berg“ wich means „mountain“ and „entrückung“ or „rückung“ wich mean something like „move“. this fits because after this fight the monsters will move out of the mountain.

interesting thing, here in Denmark we have an example of it, but it is also subverted in two major points, which makes the direct name inaccurate for it.

Holger the Dane, who fits the trope, except he is under a castle and not a mountain, and he wasn't a king, but one of Charlemagne's Paladins

I thought this song was in asgore and the song had a long pause until i realised it was its own song
