This is actually false for so many reasons. One OK is south of the Mason Dixon line. Two- OK fought for the south in the civil war (though it was not yet officially a state yet). It shares strong southern culture through food, music, geography and sports. Third, the US census defines Oklahoma as a southern state. The midwest starts at Kansas- and thats where a lot of people come from, so some Oklahomans mistakenly think this is the midwest.

Southern Oklahoman here: I could not disagree any morel I have never and will never consider myself as a “mid western” and I don’t know anyone around that would think of themselves as midwestern, matter of fact those are fighting words around here…. That’s like saying Texas is mid western because it’s in the middle lmao

Oklahoma is in the southern plains. We get influenced by the states around us so we’re just a mixture of midwestern and southern mashed together. Ofc, this depends on where you’re at.
