The reason why Islam worked so well because of the prayer mat. It represented the first mobile sacred space. Most other temples were land based but everyone wanted to continue praying. The mobile temple, the prayer mat simply had to face Mecca and wash their hands face and feet and step on your carpet facing Mecca. Still works today. All my staff have their own. I live in Bali. They are from Java.

Mithra is _not_ a demon in Hinduism. He isn't worshipped much, but not a demon. He is probably the God of Friendship (explains why he isn't worshipped much). Mithr, in Hindi and several other Indian languages means friend. Prime Minister Modi starts his speeches with 'Mithron' meaning 'Friends!'
