DIY Vacuum Sealer for canning jars

How to make your own vacuum sealer for canning jars.
This works like the Food saver vacuum jar sealer.
Because I have had so many request for this chamber I set up an

Just place a small block of wood underneath the small jars. That would rais ethem up AND displace some air, making less air you need to remove! Cool design.

Steve, I found your video via Rain County YT channel. This is a great idea and I had the supplies readily available so I built one based on your design with a few modifications. In the top I’ve inserted a hose barb for easier hose attachment and I’ve made my unit much taller. My unit has a height of 14 usable internal inches and I can easily pull vacuum with a brake bleeder or the Food Saver machine. Thanks for sharing your idea and giving me inspiration to build my own unit.

I watched a video where a. food saver canister was used this way. All different types of jars- including repurposed salsa jars, etc- were used and it worked.
