Thanks for the info, man! Started with a captive agency and got my life insurance license but am now thinking of switching over to independent.

I started in 1977 with American National collecting a debit spent 2.5 years with them they were captive & they either were harnessing you for not enough collections or you did not sell enough. It was a catch 22 / move over to another company based in Canada had my own office & staff company had a more professional outlook and they really did not have family plans they really were geared towards Business & professional l e Dr, CPA, moved to GA plan discontinued branch office, Moved to another company got along great with old manager then he retired & the company hired a hot shot 1 year wonder did not like him at all moved to P&C company that had a joke of a portfolio of life products to sell. In 1988 join a IMO & been with them ever since. I am independent & it was to bad I did not know this in 1977. If I was a newbie I seriously think about doing P&C just to have more opportunies to see people then get a some help on bluiding the life part.

I am a P&C captive. They don't allow me to sell life or other lines of insurance. That sucks.

Can someone work with you as a captive for a couple months and then switch to independent?
