I bought a hydro drill. A little 2 cycle engine on a gear box with a mast and winch. A pump that sucked water/bentonite clay mix pumped down through the drill stem to bring stuff to the surface as the bit descended. I had drill logs from the neighbors so I had an idea of what I would be going through. I figured about 160'. The problem with the system though is when I got to a certain layer around 45' it was sand and gravel. Gravel probably 1/2" to 2". The water/clay mix brought the sand and smalls to the surface fine. But it left the gravel. It was like drilling through a bowl of marbles. Lost 2 bits and 50' of stem. Then time was running out for me and I just had it drilled professional. 7K. BUT on retrospec if I had more time I would have done something else-remove the material with a designed device like a screw, bucket winch mast system. I met a guy once that had 30 acres and he put in 3 wells through solid granite. The way? He built a system that would allow a very heavy point to freefall to bust rock and bucket to surface. He was retired so time was on his side though

This man explains everything I ever wondered about in this subject. He explains that he may be biased--but he seems to have too much integrity to actually be dishonest. He strongly believes in his own product--that is a plus in my opinion--not a bias I would ever mind.

As this is your latest vid I thought I would comment here. I have just begun going through your gold vids, and have to say you are killing it with how you teach and explain everything.

I have copied all and will be replayed many times.

I won't say you are the greatest and best on YouTube as many do, but I will say you definitely are up there with the top group. Brilliant in my opinion. All the best.

Big problem., probably like a betty crocker mixer when it hits fist size rocks and tumbles them around....but a great kitchen item for the toughest of dough!

How do you know if you are drilling straight. Are you adding PVC pipe to the drill or just dropping it on the flexible hose?

I bought 1/2 air hose. The adapters are not as readily available. Should I return it and get 3/8 air hose?
Thanks

What would happen if I attempted to drill with a 4 gallon per minute at 90 psi air compressor?
Thanks

My late father was a well driller for 50 years, I grew up around the business and worked on a number of rigs, job sites in all kinds of rock, sand, clay and actually drilled a thousand footer in emery.
At first glance this cartoon is cute, but leaves out one very important feature - some sort of rigging like a tri pod and winch to lower and raise the "drill". If the bit gets hung up underground, it's not likely you will pull the drill up by hand. Also, there is nothing to stablize the tool, preventing it from counter rotating if the spinning bit gets hung up on roots or boulders under ground.
And trying to drill a plumb hole with this method will be tough without something to keep the drill straight verticle.
Your best bet for something like this to work would be to drill in sandy soil or gravel, and the casing would need to be grouted in with either the pulverized rock cuttings like a traditionally drilled well, or concrete to seal the casing preventing contamination from outside sources.
Finally, in my experience, a well such as this would be tapping into "surface water", part of the water table, and would not be potable. Although the well could be used for irrigation of some sort, but I wouldn't consume it.
Potable water is water generally contained within an underground aquifer generally part of a stratum rererred to as ledge. Although there are exceptions as in sand and gravel wells, but the depths might be greater than this drill could reach, and the bottom of the well casing should be screened, then filtered again farther up the supply line.
But, give it shot. Ya never know.

Trying to get some input on this, I had a ton of cave ins while drilling my well, (only got to 35ft ground is to wet and sandy) I went ahead and cased it and dumped about 1000lbs of tiny pea gravel around the casing. I still have about 15ft to fill around the well casing. What other type of rock would be good for this since there is so much water in the hole? I dont think it would be a good idea to put dirt in the hole until I get above the water line?

There is a video here on YouTube where a guy using your system says that the boring bit will not drill through rock.

Bought this kit and it didn’t work for me at all. Ended up wasting a ton of money on renting a water trailer and air compressor and getting childcare. We hit a little bit of rock 5 feet down and it didn’t budge after 3 hours. We had a very powerful compressor and 1/2 inch hose, it just couldn’t do the job. I wouldn’t recommend this product I’m sorry to say because the professional driller has been saying “2 more weeks” for 5 months and I’m paying 2 mortgages
