In this vlog, I'm traveling to Ekaterinburg, Russia to explore the city's past and present! I went on a guided tour to see the Chekist (Soviet secret police) Town , checking out its Soviet communal apartment blocks and constructivist architecture.

Apart from this part of the city, I'll show you what life in this Ural city is like: its cafes, bars, streets, art museums and more!

Ekaterinburg is a fascinating city with a fascinating history!

Loved the Art Museum, I would love to see more Russian Art both before the Revolution and after, fascinating. I couldn't imagine living in a building where most of your neighbours were secret police, I don't think I would ever leave my apartment. Your building guide was so friendly, the sort of person you could happily spend time with over a beer in a bar. An excellent, informative vlog as always. You really deserve 100K subscribers!

There used to be a webcam showing the waterfall area of Ekaterinburg which I watched occasionally -- by the way Elena, for many Siemens industrial locations in Germany it was similar: they built large blocks of flats nearby for the workers (also owned by Siemens), as well as a small shopping/market center -- oftentimes there was a tram or other above ground rail line to get the workers to/from their jobs/flats -- the northwest section of Berlin is still today known as Siemensstadt ('Siemens town') -- your vlogs are always enjoyable, so thank you for this one

Hi, Elena. That was a nice tour of Yekaterinburg. It looks like a nice variety of some modern and some historical sites, and it's always fun to learn more about some of the other cities in Russia besides Moscow and Saint Petersburg.

Great Video Elena. You showed some aspects of Yekaterinburg such as the art museum, houses, buildings built when Stalin was alive and I appreciate a lot the reproduction of the keyboard using stones. Have a great day Elena. I am going to see your next video with a lot of enthusiasm and interest.
