Yes!! Please continue to teach the tradition. I am 47 years old and this is my first time hearing such a conversation about Kambule.

Beautiful woman of knowledge and wisdom. We need to appreciate and record our oral histories. Amazing account of our culture.

Hi Abi thanks for airing this. It has certainly sparked my interest. How can I get more info. Would love to contribute to the funding. I live in Philadelphia.
Planning on visiting Trini soon.

I heard a slightly different history of carnival from some native Trinidad before any slavery or french influences.. .i was told b4 Europeans ever stepped foot on Caribbean soil..African trini & native American tribes would meet up and show their different costumes & dances.. look again at pictures of native people and tell me you can't see carnival... lucky the slaves continued the tradition and added some great additions but the reason its also in Brazil and was in North America before the Europeans... just to remind us it's more than a celebration of free slaves this was rooted way deeper in our heritage and culture (yes before we even gave french patios titles to things) we have such a deep past
