Removing a stuck tibbe key

This is a simple trick on how to get a stuck Tibbe key out of your ignition lock with a simple flat tool. This is normally used when a new key is cut and used in a worn lock

Thank you for this video. I had a new key cut by a locksmith last week and while he was programming the chip he got the key stuck in the ignition. He and his coworker tried for 30 minutes to get the key out without success. I asked them if they tried using a flat key pick to remove it and they showed me a skinny round pick that they tried using. They then told me that I would have to have a new ignition installed and that they would give me a deal since I had just spent $310 just to get a key cut and programmed.
I went for several days with the key stuck. After viewing your video I tried your method. It Worked!!! Once the key was out I checked the old key in the ignition and it slid in and out just fine. It was their new rough cut key that was the problem. I used some hobby files and and a wire wheel from a dremel to smooth the rough key into a smooth key. Now the new key works great. I called the locksmith and cancelled the new ignition installation. Thanks for saving me money.

Cheers matey, I got a tibbe make up key stuck. I didn't want to pull it too hard as it might come apart due to the nature of the tool. I used your technique in a fashion! Im a very relieved man on this new years day. Happy new year

My parents bought a Tibbe decoder tool in order to unlock the steering column of their old Transit a few years ago so they could move it to their block of land. The decoder has been stuck in the ignition ever since then, nobody could work out how to remove it. Now thanks to this video, I have a new toy to play around with :)

This may save me! I’ve just put a new cut key in the ignition of my jaguar xh40, it came out fine but the 2nd time it got stuck and I tried for an hour with no luck. The car is over an hour away in a lock up so I’ll have a go at this - do you think it’s should work ok?

is there a way to get new model key with remote and lock and program it for (mk7 transit) i was amazed when my friend locked my doors with old ford escort tibbe key. (for driver door, hood)
