Been using this technique for years. Sometimes the new corner will fit over the broken one with doing anything to the broken one. Hint: use a 4 inch grinder with a cut off wheel to make your cuts. You'll never use a knife again.

Clever solution for repairing common vinyl siding corner damage. I've been masking the damage with color matched tape to avoid pulling the siding off to get to the nails.
