This video is about Estimating the Amount Of Paint Needed For Interior Surfaces.
Measuring is Much easier than you think and it could save you a lot of money. In order to get a ceiling measurement, measure the Length and the width of the room and multiply these numbers together. To estimate the wall surface area, measure the length of each wall, then add them together. Then measure the height of the room. To estimate the trim, measure the length of the various trims, such as the base boards, door trim and any crown molding. It is important to estimate the right amount of paint to prevent over buying.

Why did we add 20' to the length and width of the trim? 1:33 of video. Also, I heard you say don't add all the lengths of the trim but you added them. Could you please explain calculating the trim again?

Measure the height and width of the wall with a tape measure sometimes perimeter and area is easier to calculate if you take the measurement to one decimal place.(Even centimetres interpretation.)

very helpful!! thank you!!
any experience with Benjamin Moore paint???
I REALLY want to use their paint (mostly because their Aura line is matte. yet still completely washable) and from what I've seen their paint gets great reviews.
BUT it's very expensive. I think the Aura paint is anywhere from $50-70 dollars/a gallon and I have an entire house to paint from top to bottom.
that's 5 bedrooms, 2 and a half bathrooms, a living room, a dining room, a kitchen, a foyer, a laundry room, a walk in closet, a stairway, a side entry room. the ceilings the walls, the trim. everything!
with that said, the price of that paint is going to kill me. ugh. so I was hoping it didn't take much (bm paint) to get good coverage. hence, my question.

Hi david, when you mention the "overall square footage of the room" does that include all the walls and the ceiling? If it does and that means id be giving a quote to paint all the walls + the ceiling then thats cool, but how do i give a quote to paint soely the walls in a bedroom without the ceiling?
