Viewers' FTSE 100 Share Portfolio Final Update

This is the final update of my Viewers' Portfolio Experiment. In June 2022 to mark the milestone of surpassing 5000 subscribers, I set up a new portfolio and invested £5000 spread across 10 UK FTSE 100 companies chosen entirely by my subscribers and viewers. Using their combined knowledge and the so called ‘wisdom of crowds’, we will see if this portfolio can beat the market over the course of a year. I’ll use total return as a measure of performance, combining share price growth in addition to dividends. I also bought a FTSE 100 index tracker ETF to use as a market performance benchmark. I’ve chosen to use the Freetrade platform to purchase all the shares in this new experimental portfolio. The companies I mention in this video are BAE Systems, National Grid, SSE, Barclays PLC, Aviva, Lloyds Banking Group, Persimmon, Unilever, Legal and General and Rolls Royce Holdings PLC.

Good work team. A bit disappointing about SSE and their dividend cut but suggests they're thinking longer term at least

A good video and I remember going for Lloyds at the time. It goes to show diversification is key when stock selecting and having a hedge with an index fund / ETF makes sense too 👍🏻

The Ashtead Group is by far the best compounder in the ftse. Lseg is a fantastic option too.

I think you should run the experiment again, adds to the content of your channel.

Another enjoyable video. Having been a Lloyds investor for some time I think it would be worthwhile mentioning their venture into housing rental via Citra Living. It's going well and I believe they're aiming for 50, 000 properties.

Great share, thanks. I’m topping up on some Rolls Royce soon.
Interestingly I did 9.11% with CUKX over the year.

Well-done & I do hold all of these shares, Persimmon has let me down too but I'm in it for the long haul so hopefully it'll get back up there where it used to be 👍🏾

I picked CCH which is up 22% since the video 1 year ago. But there wasn't enough votes for it to go into the fund. But the team still picked well to beat the market :)

Put £57, 000 in EQQQ in January. Up over £18, 000 in 6months! I won’t be touching the ftse 100 until I retire…..

Interesting experiment but unlikely to beat the market over the longer term

If you were going to buy one company, could I suggest Ashtead ? It is apparently Britain's "best" performing share.

I cant see much further upside from RR but then what do I know. Happily I got in during covid which was one of my 2 quality bets, Shoe was the other.

With an average of 3.47 dividend yield isn’t it better to just invest in the VHYL high yield etf? You get all the diversity and safety of investing in 1800 individual stocks. I think the UK stock market is a general underperformer when compared to the US. American individual stocks for fun and Vanguard etfs for stability and steady yield and growth.

Was the video made after this week’s rally? I’m heavily into bank stocks, their value had decreased more than their(great) dividends this year but have now almost completely recovered.
