This song honors the memory of my father, who died this year, 10/03/2023. He was homeless at various points and suffered from mental illness. RIP Dad, I hope you find the comfort in death that always eluded you in life. Bless all of you that have the heart to understand music of this depth. We are in this together, my love to you all.

The 80s era was definitely the best era. Prove me wrong.

This song saved my life, it came out when I was in a bad place as a teen. Thoughts on ending it all. It still sends chills thru me listening to it.

As a lifelong battler of depression, I can totally relate to this song. It makes me sad, but it conveys to people how I feel about life.

I have been the lonely man on the corner....many times throughout my life.
This song is a great reminder that we are not alone in this world.
Unfortunately, I also have had many monkeys on my back. Heroin, by far, was the worst.
Yet I still get up every day and find something to be grateful for. The life I lived....I shouldn't even be here. By the Grace of God...I am.

Maybe this is one of the best songs from Genesis in the 80´s? I really love this song.

I've been looking for this song since the 2005. My Dad bought a Phil Collins greatest hits CD and I loved this track! I finally found it!

In my opinion this is possibly one of the best songs from the 80s, with Mama and In The Air Tonight. Guess who wrote all of them❤️

Phil wrote the lyrics for this song referring to the homeless crisis going on in England at the time. It is very similar to the themes for his solo hit "Another Day In Paradise" and "Tell Me Why" from the We Cant Dance album.

And THIS, young ones, is how you do music. Simply soulful. I humbly count myself fortunate and blessed to have seen Phil perform live. The man and Genesis as a whole are a TRUE Godsend! Thank you for such beautiful artistry and talent in these men! God bless them all! #Genesis 💯💖🎶🎸😎

Love yourself enough to enjoy another beautiful day and look to God with all your heart and know you are enough

He waits every day now.... and nobody knows him, and nobody cares. Just a lonely man on the corner. That's heartbreak.

WHY IS THIS ON NONE OF THE GENSIS GREATEST HITS PLAYLISTS?!?!? This is one of my favorite songs from any band and I just heard it yesterday. May be Phil Collins most forceful performance ever.

I agree. The 1980’s was the best decade for music. And I was there for the 60’s and the 70’s.

Lyrics to this iconic track: 🔥

See the lonely man there on the corner
What he's waiting for, I don't know
But he waits everyday now
He's just waiting for something to show
And nobody knows him
And nobody cares
'Cause there's no hiding place
There's no hiding place for you
Looking everywhere at no one
He sees everything and nothing at all, oh
When he shouts, nobody listens
Where he leads no one will go, oh
He's a lonely man, there on the corner
What he's waiting for, I don't know
But he waits everyday now
And he's just waiting for something to show, oh
Nobody knows him
And nobody cares
'Cause there's no hiding place
There's no hiding place for you and me
Are we just like all the rest?
We're looking too hard for something he's got
Or moving too fast to rest
But like a monkey on your back, you need it
But do you love it enough to leave it? Ah
Just like the lonely man there on the corner?
What he's waiting for, I don't know, oh
But he waits every day now
He's just waiting for that something to show, oh
Who's the lonely man there on the corner?
What he's waiting for, I don't know
But he's there every day now
And he's just waiting for something to show, oh
Who's the lonely man there on the corner?
What he's waiting for, I don't know
Oh, but he waits every day now
