In 2023, the team of environment enthusiasts at CGTN Nature launched the series "Environment Buzzword" to dig deeper into the top environmental issues facing our planet.
We contacted residents in Greenland to learn about the impact of melting glaciers and, much to our surprise, learned that not everyone there sees climate change as a threat — at least for the time being. We spoke to locals in wildfire-ravaged areas to understand why such catastrophes are becoming more frequent and how they manage to live in these hotspots. We also investigated the mass deaths of birds due to plastic pollution and reported on seals trapped by flesh-cutting "necklaces" made of fishing nets, among other hair-raising topics.
In 2024, CGTN Nature will continue to report on major environmental issues and explore actions needed for a way out. Our mission continues.
