The aesthetics of the hair, glasses and jumper 👌🏾. Yes to DNF's, modern classics and okay-ish variety in the shortest month.

absolutely loved your video and the variety in the books you read. I can't believe there are only a handful of days left in the year lol it's insane. xoxo 🥰🖤

Thanks Rincey! I so look forward to your reviews. We have very similar tastes, so I can pretty much guarantee if you love a book, I will too. The Stationey Shop sounds right up my alley- so I just reserved it from the Library, and will start it today! Yay! I did try to read Paradise year ago, and I didn’t finish it, which is rare for me. But I might try the audio version because I LOVE Toni Morrison’s voice.

The Stationery Shop sounds really good, I'll keep an eye out for it. There's nothing better than an immersive story.

Great stack Rincey! Paradise…whew…that is the ONE Morrison novel that I can not seem to get into😩

Nice, I have The Honjin Murders on the shelf I was gifted. Sounds like it’ll by my jam.

Yeah, Paradise is definitely a challenging one to get through, and I'm sure that was at least somewhat intentional on Morrison's part. I enjoyed the book overall because like you said, her writing is always impeccable and beautiful, but I freely admit that when I got to the end, I did not fully understand everything that happened in the book. For me, I think it's worth it to finish just because the writing was so interesting and there were some very striking lines, but it's definitely lower down on my ranking list of her books.

What a lucky friend to get your copy of The Stationary Shop! I've just started reading it and it's such a touching tale. Can't wait to finish it. Also hard agree about the beautiful cover.

Paradise...well, the things you do not like about the book do not get any better. I enjoyed it, mostly, but did find it hard to follow. I also found the last few chapters sort of take a turn in a weird direction i did not enjoy (odd imagery, maybe magic/spiritual).

Velvet Was the Night is on my favorites of 2021list; loved it. You should try The Decagon House Murders; got my hands on volume one of the manga but couldn't get #2 so got and read the novel .... and weeks later, it still feels like it's always on the fringes of my mind. It's a Japanese homage to Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None.

I have read two Toni Morrison books: The Bluest Eye and Beloved. I want to read more but I am so intimidated.

I wish I'd read only from my existing stacks. I wouldn't buy another book for 3 years :-D
