How to get rid of speaker buzz

For a very long time I had a buzzing and humming noise coming out of my speakers even when I wasn't playing anything through the speakers. So, in this quick video I'll show you what I've done to fix this buzzing noise and some other tips to help you to resolve this annoying issue once and for all.

The Tips are
1. Moving electronic devices away from the speaker such as the external hard drive.
2. Making sure all the audio cables are properly/completely plugged in to the speaker or computer.
3. Reduce the speakers volume and bass. Instead increase the window/mac's volume.

Oh. My. God! I have suffered thru this electrical humming for MONTHS. I thought my (powered) speakers were dying. I've cleaned the jack plug and the jack on the back of the pc soooo many times to no avail. First few words in to your video I realise I have an 18650 charger currently charging batteries on top of one of the speakers. Moved it. Nope, hum is still there. Moved my charging phone 5 inches away. AH HA! Hum GONE. While I've gotten used to the buzz it annoys others in the house, and once it was gone I realised how loud it really was! Phone is the pc's internet so has to stay near a charger because not enuf usb ports - yeah 1st world problem I know - and now that I think back, it was when I moved the phone (and pc) to different spots on my desk that the noise started. I just assumed I'd damaged a cable or the jack. Cake for you, sir, thank you!

Thank you for this video! I recently bought an audio interface and every time I would open a webpage or youtube I would keep hearing a faint humming noise driving me crazy. I kept messing with drivers and muting/disabling devices to try and pinpoint the component inside my computer that was causing the issue. Turns out the interface was just sitting too close to the WiFi antenna 🤦‍♂😑😂

Keep your speakers on max volume for like 10 minutes then start reducing volume until you stop hearing buzzing sound.

thank you! I usually just unplug speaker wire and plug back in. I didn't think of devices causing interference (especially a hard drive). Also reducing bass settings is a good idea. I have Bose Companion 2 Speakers, they are not cheap, but worth it. I bought $20 Logictech speakers and they were awful, so I bought the Bose Companion speakers instead (this was about 7 years ago, maybe time to replace as I use them many hours every week). If anyone else can suggest a mid price small desktop speakers you can plug into a computer with a standard audio cable, please post recommendations here. budget is $40 to $100. I paid $100 for the BOSE Companion speakers, I see now they are going for $150 for latest version, that is a ridiculous high price for speakers I just use for a computer .

I tried eveything before finding this video and didn't think of electrical interference. Moved my networkswitch 10 cm further away from my speakers and the noise stopped

Bro. 😂 My external HDD was literally on top of my speakers. And my PC Cabinet is just beside the speaker. Resolved 😂

I moved my external storage less than 3 inches and it stopped instantly
