What a majestic plane! I wish I was there to hear it up close. My Dad took a ride in one of these in Seattle

Seems like it wouldn't be too difficult to make the cheek gun windows into the earlier F version. It would sure make it look more like an F. Not criticizing at all though. That is a beautiful B-17 and excellent historical subject! I don't have a copy of the book yet. I can't help but wonder what the German pilot was thinking when he landed back at his base. How would he be received by his squadron and commanders?

Before it was Madras Maiden this B-17 was known as Chuckie as originally it was a pathfinder B-17G that had radar instead of a ball turret when it was sold to the Military Aviation Museum in Va they added the ball turret and the chin turret before it was sold to the current owner Erickson Aircraft Collection now on loan to the Liberty Foundation who had the Liberty Belle B-17 which burned in 2011 now being rebuilt with another b-17 fuselage alongside a b-17 that was recovered from Laberdor. as both are being restored according to Wikipedia for display. as of 10-2-2019 with the crash of the Collings Foundation's b-17 Nine O Nine its being investigated by the NTSB as if the NTSB will look into this b-17 as well ye olde pub.
