This was my first tablet. I bought it refurished on ebay as well. I had to replace the charging port about 5 times and speakers about 3 times as they always fried quickly. I loved it though. other than those 2 issues it was a solid machine. Rooted was even better to get later Android versions.

I remember when we first came to NZ, my father bought me one of these. Mine recently broke unfortunately. 😓 These are still very capable tablets with a good custom ROM installed. Also, great video as always Nathan. I'm glad to see these nexus tablets being covered again. 👍 @BrandonNel10

I have its descendant, a 2013 Nexus 7, as a gift of my aunt who live in U.S since Asus chose not sell it much in my contry. It was my first device ever. Entire of my childhood hood was it. watching hours of YouTube, reading book, capture life moments. In fact, nearly all of trip I do when I was a stubborn and ambitious boy was inside it. It is a lot more powerful compare to the 2012 version but still a bit laggy on running Asphalt 8 in cranked settings. I lost it in 2017 because I bring it to beach and accidentally drop it to the water when I taking a photo of my family. Now I own a Nokia 8.1 which share the same stock Android experience but with better camera, ability to run COD: Mobile and Genshin at very good settings, lighter and also more suitable for my life as a high school student who need to work on the go. But the Nexus 7 2013 still be the best thing I worked with.

Because of the pandemic many students in developing countries need a computing device to continue their studies. If you send just one to Mexico I could channel it for a family in need of it.
Kudos to your production and personally I would like to see a nexus 9 revisit

I remember how my friends played Minecraft on Android tablets and the fact that I didn't own any made me cry so I used to go to their homes just to play Minecraft and we used to build for hours of fun. Those Good Old days when owning a tablet was a gaming luxury....

I got one of these new as a birthday present in 2012. I still think that dimpled soft touch back was a really nice design. For the time it was a really good value tablet. Unfortunately part of how Google kept the price down was by using very cheap, low quality flash storage. This meant that a couple of years later mine was basically unusable, even with custom ROMs.

@ronulld is my Twitter handle and here is a story. I remember the day this device got released. Since this was one of the first devices to get Android 4.4 Kitkat they had a collab with the chocolate company to give away some of these. As always I entered the giveaway but didn't win. I still have the wrapper with the promo banner with me. Hope I win one of these and I will send the wrapper to you if you wanna add it to your retro collection.
