The reason you use a white background on eBay isn’t for eBay it’s for google. Google likes white backgrounds in their search results.

Just use a plain gray background with nothing else in the photo except for what your selling. I resell full time on eBay and used to use white backgrounds but switched to gray as it makes the photos more true to color. I sell mens clothing so I want to make sure that the colors are extremely accurate.

Google ranks white backgrounds higher getting picked up on google puts more eyes on your product than on just ebay. Plus, I want the only thing I'm selling as the main focus.

When I'm buying clothes lots and the person took the pictures outside especially on the ground or the hood of their junky car I pass because I can just imagine how many stains they got just while photographing 😂 Or people selling a couch and the couch is sitting on the lawn. I don't want a couch that set on wet grass 😫

Ebay policy you're not allowed to use anything but a white background. They just aren't very good at enforcing it. Likewise for photos that have text in them. People do it. I.e. Best on ebay etc etc. Amazon won't allow it though most of the time they're much more on it
