No, they were not fighting that seriously, they were using the most optimal strategy to beat him, Chrollo knew he was gonna die if illumi hadn't killed the dons in time. Everyone there holding back, you can't use that as an argument for illumi.

Even outside of his insane speed, durability and strength (comparable to Hisoka) I’d argue he has one of the strongest ability sets in hunterxhunter. (Also worth mentioning Hisoka challenged Illumi to hunt him down and kill him as-well as rating him a 95).

It’s by far the best manipulation ability, incredibly versatile and a guaranteed instawin on any target - and unlike Shalnark with his similar ability Illumi actually has the physical stats to make the best use of it.
I’d love to see him in action again because so far he’s never even struggled in a fight.

Zeno told Chrollo he could beat him, if he is trying to steal their nen. If chrollo went all out, zeno said the outcome MIGHT be different. Not that zeno will lose.
Now add Silva to the equation, Zeno + Silva all out easily stomps Chrollo.

I love how separated the comments are. Let me kill the argument. Firstly. We all know netero shits on Zeno. Its not even close. 2ndly, even if lets say illumi is 95 and hisoka is between 95 and 100. In hxh (which is what makes hxh one of the best animes), the strongest fighter doesn't always win. As in. EVEN if illumi was stronger (which he is probably not but he is crazy powerful), in hxh the better ability in the situation wins. As in. For an example, gon vs killua. Gons ability might be more powerful. But killua is faster. And since gon isn't trained to handle electricity. He'll be shocked for few seconds. And that will lead to an easy win to killua. He doesn't even need to use god speed
