I just wanted to share these clips that express exactly how I feel about living at home with a father who is unemployed... This happens!
(and I do pay rent)

I own none of this! I'm only borrowing the clips from Rick and Morty - Season 2 Episode 9
It's a great show. You should watch it.

Omg Jerry asking his daughter for money was a new low, even for him, and I thought he was doing well when mentioning her childhood, but all of that just so he can get some money.

Boy this really does confirm Rick's prey-predator statement about Jerry

He tried to manipulate money out of his daughter by being nice to her and playing on her feelings and memories. The rock hitting him on the head is probably a pretty good indicator to the fact that he hasn't hit rock bottom but is below it at this point.

The problem is not that Jerry's asking her daughter for money. Shit happens, you know? You get desperate. But that's not that bad of a thing. The mistake was to act like he actually wanted to bond with her and get her hopes up just to use *that* to ask for the money. That's not rock bottom, that's the next level.

I feel sorry for Summer, she was already starting to warm up and be nice to Jerry and she thought that for a moment it was a genuine act of wanting to spend more time with her then Jerry suddenly ruins the moment as usual.

Anyone else not entirely clear what Jerry needs the money for? Unless he and Beth have some sort of prior agreement to each pay a certain percentage of the bills.

I felt bad for him, just a dad trying to get through to his kids...
But then he begged them for money.

One of the best scenes! hahahahahha. Simple, yet funny and hard-hitting!

That moment I realized Jerry and my dad are one in the same in terms of how they try to start a conversation.

What gets me is that my grandfather did something like this with 2 of his 5 grandkids (one was me). When each of us were born he started that Gerber savings thing that builds up over time for use by the child when they got older if they needed it. Instead, when I turned 18 he played on my ignorance of what it was for and cashed it out, taking about 70% of it for himself, because _he_ was short on cash despite having a very healthy pension from General Motors. Then 3 years later he did the same thing with my cousin, the second grandkid, that was 3 years behind me. After that our parents wizened up to this bullshit and made sure the he had no control over the other 3 plans.

If your in a desperate situation and you have no other reasonable options other than to ask your family (even your kids) for money then that’s one thing. You know it’s not pretty, and it’s not fun for either party, but you do what you gotta do. But to get your daughter into a vulnerable state with fun childhood memories and then ask the “hey can I borrow some cash” question, that’s just salt on the wounds.
