The Thessalian concept of the Theoi

In Thessalian religion, every individual's soul is believed to be a combination of two deities (a God and a Goddess). These two deities are known collectively as the individual's Theoi (Gods). The Theoi are viewed as the spiritual parents of the individual. Just as the biological parents created the body, the spiritual parents created the soul. A Thessalian will give special attention to their Theoi throughout their lives. The Theoi are not chosen by the individual, but are revealed through the Hermantic Oracle.
It is important to remember that a person's Theoi are not the only deities that a Thessalian can and will honor. In fact, the Theoi are seen as the protectors of individual soul, but a Thessalian can and will devote themselves to the service and study of any number of other deities in our Pantheon. You are not limited by or to your Theoi, but they will have a powerful influence in your life once they are determined.
