Ferrari letting Sainz go mid-season let alone Audi releasing the only good driver they can get so he can drive for RBR = pure fantasy. If we’re talking about fantasies, put Alonso in there.

would be ironic if Hulkenberg again signed too early so a big team can't get him

Hulk is doing the impossible with Haas. No one deserves it more

Red Bull DO NOT regret the new contract. With the old contract he wouldve had a RBR/VCARB seat. With the new contract and clauses they can ditch him a half year earlier.

The fact that Tsunoda is overlooked is criminal. But then you see Lance Stroll on the grid too and understand how this "sport" works

I remember when Hulkenberg was being considered as RBR driver... Hulkenback to RBR would have been great

If HULK ends up in that seat that would be absolutely amazing

It should be Tsunoda, but it will be Ricciardo

I'd love to see the hulk in the red bull, I am very confident he would be competing for the p6-p3 range at minimum, on the regular

You touched on driving styles, but completely missed how Daniel's driving style is the main reason he's in contention. Daniel is known to have a similiar driving style to Max, with preference for strong front end and ability to control rear instability that's a result of that. Red Bull probably saw him fitting that RB19 like a glove on Silverstone last year and that's why they've immediately placed him in AlphaTauri to prepare him for transfer to the main team. They hoped he'd justify the transfer with his performance there, but that's where the whole plan got derailed. That said, they're probably still hoping that putting him in a more fitting car will unleash his potential.

Hulk til the end of the season makes sense because they need someone to help them get that constructors title and he wouldnt cost as much as Sainz to buy out

It's not Yuki doesn't deserve RedBull, but rather RedBull doesn't deserve Yuki, it's pretty typical for RedBull

Ricc can drive a pointy car like Max. Makes for a consistent development path.

Should be Yuki but I think it'll be Ricciardo. He's more used to the driving style of that Red Bull and it'll give them a chance to test him out in the top team car to see if they want him in 25

You can’t ignore car characteristics, the only driver we’ve seen been competitive in a redbull alongside Verstappen is Ricciardo. I don’t think we can assume redbull are making this decision based on the vCarb results, but on their tests in the redbull, which is undoubtedly very different to the vcarb

So here's the problem (we've seen it before in 21 with Hamilton and Bottas) - Verstappen and Perez have vastly different needs from the car (Max likes it pointy, Checo likes it planted) and because the competition has caught up performance-wise they can't afford to spend upgrade development bringing the car closer to what Perez needs, they can only keep focusing on developing the car for Verstappen because he's the one bringing home the points. Last year and the year before they had a massive package advantage over the rest of the field so they didn't need to make the car quicker for Verstappen, they could comfortably take some peak performance away from how he liked the car and make it suit Perez better to keep a consistent spread of points for the constructors championship. This year is different, the car isn't as dominant, they can't sacrifice Verstappens peak performance to make the car easier for Perez so he's just having to drive what he's been given.
I think we will see this story repeated more and more in the future due to budget and development restrictions. If a car doesn't have some kind of unassailable edge at the beginning of new regulations then it will quickly become a one driver team unless you've got two drivers who like a similar kind of car.

The logical way would be riccardo at rb, lawson in vcarb, and perez out, but the contract is likely hard on letting perez without a car, so a driver swap with ricc is more probable

I truly believe Sainz to Red Bull will be almost as bad as Perez. Both Sainz and Perez driving styles are very rear biased and require rear stability. (this is why Sainz struggled so much compared to Leclerc in 2022). Putting Sainz in a car with the front end as sharp as the Red Bull would only be a Perez 2.0 situation

Would love to see Hulk at Red Bull, he’d smash it as he can drive the wheels off whatever he’s given.

Nico in Redbull is an absolutely tantalizing idea and I love it!!
