Benjamin was born in the same year that Mr Gateau presented his backwards clock for the station. He died 1 year before the clock was taken away and replaced with a digital clock. When Daisy died, the basement which contained the original Mr Gateau's clock was flooded.
It's freaking brilliant.

When Benjamin dies in Daisy's arms as a baby right near the end I can honestly say that was the first ever time in my entire life that I cried whilst watching a film.

It really is an AMAZING movie.
I mean yes it's a bit ridiculous because no one would be born old then get physically younger as there life went on. But that aside at it's heart it's a tragic love story about two people who want to be together but can't be because of Benjamin's condition.
