The way her smile slowly fades in the beginning as she realizes nobody is smiling back/looking at her is so real

I'm 29, I got cancer at 25. This lady is spot on. Its why I appreciate my oncologist - she always spoke in plain English, and she looked at me as a real person (it helps that ive known her for over a decade, but still).

As a 30 year man fighting cancer right now, this really hit home🥺 there’s so much uncertainty in the future, you don’t know what will the outcome be, even if it’s treatable it’s still a scary situation to deal with.

My best friend was diagnosed with breast cancer at 40. Out of the blue, turned 40 and that is the age her dr recommended a mammogram. Thank God they did as she was stage 3 at that point and would have died had the timing been any different. The cancer center assigned her a team of doctors that would see her through the entire process. The 1st oncologist seemed smart but her bedside manner was so cold and we tried so hard to connect with her but she seemed unwilling to allow that process to occur. My bestie and I talked it over and decided neither one of us was comfortable with her. The liason at the cancer center heard our concerns and transferred her to another oncologist who is amazing. The words spoken by this actress are powerful and i think every future doctor should experience this scenario to help them really understand its not just science and medical treatments that help ppl survive these very traumatic medical events.

I love the point as someone who had a grade 4 tumor. Telling how to feel doesn’t help I need guidance to figure my mess of a head. It broke me when I was told my tumor was cancerous I thought I was going to die and go through chemo

WOW 💥 ❗❗❗
As a cancer survivor I agree with everything she said...
ALL in Medical Care LOOK, LISTEN, CARE.
WE ARE HUMANS.

This is a very underrated scene and edit. Its such a scary thing to have cancer. No sympathy asked but trust me, she killed this role.
Treat us like humans. Just sick humans. Scared sick humans.

As a PTA, this hits hard. We were taught to simplify patient diagnosis, explain the plan to them, and implement the plan. We also were taught to be a listener. Many patients we see have hard problems and some of these problems scare them. There are times where I just sit and listen to their story and do minimal amount of therapy because what they needed most was a listener. Obviously I don’t do this all the time. Just once in a while for those who truly need it especially Cancer patients.

So true i am a pharmacy student just about to graduate, in every course we took we were always taught how to speak to a patient and how to deliver a message in a way it’s understandable and empathetic, because yeah there is fear in illness and people need reassurance to feel like they can be in control of their life again, working in the medical field isn’t just about giving the right treatment, it’s much more than that.

My dad is a retired oncologist and he always preached this. I don’t know how he was able to do such a heartbreaking job. Bedside manner is the most important thing, especially in that field

I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer at 24, and I'm now 25 and in maintenance. Even tho she is an actress, she is so right. For 6 months, i was scared that i wouldn't
See 30, but by the grace of god and my doctors treatment plan, I'm still here and dont plan on going anywhere until I complete the things i set out to do. My doctor was with me every step of the way, and so was the team working my case and the nurses who guided me through my treatment!!! For those of us who are still fighting or surviving, fight on, and we'll show cancer that it can't mess with us or the human

I can't count how many people in my family died of cancer. My grandma was starting to go through when covid became known and shut everything down. Between her and my mom who is also high risk I'm always scared something may happen to them tbh. They don't know it, but I check on them throughout the night a couple times a week. Cancer killed my grandfather and just recently killed a cousin last year. I also had a cousin pass when he was only 18. I fucking hate cancer. To anyone going through it or has already lost someone, I'm sorry you are going through it and while not religious I pray anyone going through this makes it❤
