Oops...looks like i mispoke while filming this. The name Ananias means God is Gracious or Merciful, not God is Faithful. Hence the irony...God deals harshly in way that we might not see as gracious or merciful, but I'm suggesting that it still is when you look at the bigger picture.

You’re right- Ananias and Sapphira’s death is extreme! But I love your perspective that God is establishing boundaries with the early church, just like He did when the guy who touched the ark of the covenant was killed. It puts reverence in my heart that He can take lives like that and yet chooses to spare us- even fill us with the breath of life- every day.

The Daily Office in the Book of Common Prayer has been transformative for my husband and me. We pray four times a day - morning prayer, midday prayer, evening prayer, and Compline (End of day). During morning prayer, we read from the book of Psalms, an Old Testament reading, and a New Testament reading. We read through the Psalms monthly, through the Old Testament yearly, and through the New Testament twice a year with this schedule. This is our 5th year with this daily reading has been wonderful! I have discovered the Psalms to be absolute treasures and see where the Psalms speak so clearly of the Christ event. The Psalms are known as the prayer book of the church. We would highly recommend this schedule. It’s not for the faint of heart! 😊✝️
