The Chemical Chameleon - Just Chemistry

Manganese has many oxidation states and each state has a different color. In this reaction purple MnO4(-) is reduced firstly to green MnO4(2-) and secondly to MnO2 which creates orange solution. MnO2 will precipitate shortly after the reaction and orange color disappears (orange color is MnO2 indeed!).
Simple redox reaction but very nice to watch.
Here you have some infos:
Solution A: NaOH + glucose
Solution B: KMnO4
Add quickly B to A and observe reaction.
