“Uncle Albert, Admiral Halsey” is another GREAT McCartney/Wings tune. All these years later, still blows my mind every time I hear it.

Fun fact: "if we ever get out of here" is something George Harrison would say during the interminable business meetings the Beatles had to attend before the breakup.

Imagine writing all those songs for 10 years in the Beatles, and still having enough left in the tank to do this. . .A-F*CKING-mazing!

I rarely make comments and thoroughly enjoy Andy & Alex's reviews. This May, I will be 56 and I think many of us in this age category just took all of these fantastic songs/bands/artists from the later 60's and all of the 70's for granted. We store them away and enjoy listening to them when needed or heard over the radio, bar, etc. When I watch these young men's faces and the joy expressed, it makes me feel young again. I honestly cannot describe it clearly - hopefully I am not the only one. Call me biased, but there's no way 20 somethings are going to be reviewing songs from the 2010's in the 2050's. I am NOT knocking today's music for the younger crowd, but there was something special about those times that will not be repeated. I even find my 26 and 25 year old son's humming/singing these songs once in a while and they enjoy them. Of course, my opinion and just felt like typing away. Have a great 2022 all of you!

Back in about 1975, when I was about 18 years old, I discovered for the first time that I was actually well and truly old. I was in a record shop. A couple of younger girls were browsing and came across a Beatles album. One girl said to other, ‘oh, this is that band that Paul McCartney was with before Wings’. I knew the world was changing…

Wings was so under rated and unnecessarily hated, because everyone wanted The Beatles to get back together. But that was an all star band of pros backing up Paul.

This whole album is worth a listen/reaction. Many more great tracks: Jet, Let Me Roll It, 1985, the most Beatle like solo album ever done. ✌

Sir Paul is a one-in-a-lifetime genius. Wings had a ton of hits. Other gems include Jet, Junior's Farm, Live and Let Die, Silly Love Songs, many others.

Denny Laine was a founding member of both The Moody Blues AND Wings. That is an impressive resumė.

A classic, anyone who grew up in the 70s would have been singing along to this on the radio

When you get the most successful songwriter and artist of all time, who was once in the most successful band of all time, you can’t go wrong. This guy was simply a pop/ rock hit machine

One of THE BEST voices in all of popular music history. McCartney could sing anything, and sing it well. It's sad to hear him sing these days compared to the master vocalist he used to be, but the fact that he can do it AT ALL at practically 80 is amazing in itself!!

McCartney played bass, drums and lead guitar on this album.

This song has always remind me of another McCartney song, "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey, " light and fun with a lot of differing thoughts and phrases strung together. "Band on the Run" came out about the same time that their "Jet" came out and Elton John's "Bennie and the Jets" was released. A fun time in '73 and '74 for sure.

In '76-'77 this was heard everywhere. And I never got tired of hearing it. A+ is a deserved grade for sure!

Absolutely cracking album from start to finish. Picasso's Last Words and Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five, two fantastic tracks that finish the album in style!

Don't you just love the 3 moods in one song? Paul does it with style!

This is an S Tier song for me. Love the description of the lyrics especially "the rain exploded with a mighty crash as we fell into the sun". I always wondered why this song wasn't made into a movie. . As a kid, my mom worked at a cannery and on Saturdays all us kids would go with her to work. We would wait in our station wagon (8 hours) but during her lunch break we would visit her. To pass the time, we would listen to the radio or play tapes. This song would come on a lot, and I understood being stuck in a cell (like the character in the song) and evidentially "escaping" for the outside world. As for the album cover, it has band members (Paul, his wife Linda, and Denny Laine) and actors, etc. (Michael Parkinson, Kenny Lynch, James Coburn, Clement Freud, Christopher Lee and John Conteh). 😺

I've always loved his delivery on lines like "Rabbits on the run" and "we never will be found", classic McCartney. When I was a kid (mid 70's) I remember my mom playing this and saying she loved the 3 songs in one vibe. S tear for me without a doubt for the longevity it's had and how I never skip it when it hits on my play list.
